Continuing with our theme national politics ephemera from the Miller House and Garden Collection, today’s post is an invitation to the 1969 inaugural Governor’s Reception. This invitation (unlike the invitation to the inauguration of Nixon and Agnew posted yesterday) does not require purchasing a ticket.

The Miller House and Garden Collection not only documents the design, construction, and maintenance of this mid-century modern house but also contains ephemera providing insight into the Millers’ political and social influence on the national stage. The embossed gold seal of the Inauguration of the President and Vice President gives the appearance of an official invitation. Sadly however, the bold, all-caps print at the top of the third page says it is only a souvenir invitation.
